About Manuela
A native speaker, a dedicated teacher, and a passionate ambassador for Portuguese language and culture.
From Lisbon to Vancouver, with Love for Language
I was born and raised in Portugal, surrounded by the language, music, and traditions that I now share with my students every day. After building a career as a language teacher in Portugal, I moved to Vancouver β and quickly discovered that the Pacific Northwest has a wonderful community of people eager to connect with Portuguese-speaking culture.
Whether you dream of walking the cobblestone streets of Lisbon, reconnecting with your heritage, or simply falling in love with one of the world's most melodic languages, I am here to guide you β step by step, with patience, warmth, and genuine care for your progress.
Let’s Work TogetherMy Teaching Philosophy
Language learning should feel like an adventure, not a chore.
Immersive from Day One
I introduce Portuguese as early as possible β using gestures, visuals, and context so the language feels natural and alive.
Student-Centred
Your goals, your pace, your interests. Every lesson is shaped around what motivates and excites you personally.
Culture as Context
Language lives inside culture. I weave in music, food, history, and stories to give words meaning beyond the textbook.
Encouragement, Always
Mistakes are part of learning. My classroom is a safe, supportive space where every attempt is celebrated.
